The Freddy Mask is a core game mechanic in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 that acts as the main means of keeping the Animatronics away (the others being the Flashlight against Foxy and the Music Box against The Puppet). It is an extra empty Freddy Fazbear head given to the new night shift security guard,Jeremy Fitzgerald, at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. The player can use the head by hovering over the red tab at the bottom of the screen (next to the grey Monitor tab).
Gameplay[]
Five Nights at Freddy's 2[]
The mask was supplied after complaints were filed "about the characters trying to get into The Office" by the previous guard. It is used to fool any animatronic (excluding Foxy and The Puppet and half of the time The Mangle aswell) that enters The Office into believing that the player is an animatronic themselves. On the Custom Night, Fritz Smith also wore it.
Ultimate Custom Night[]
The Mask returns in Ultimate Custom Night to fend off Withered Bonnie, Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica while they are in the Office. While Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica can enter at any moment they are easy to fool. When Withered Bonnie attacks, the player has a shorter time to put on the mask, however he can only enter when the player is watching the cameras.
The head can also be used to make Golden Freddy disappear, but it can also be done by flipping up the monitor.
Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted[]
In Five Nights at Freddy's VR: Help Wanted, The Freddy mask reappears in the FNAF 2 mode with a proper model. It shares the exact same function as it's original appearance.
On top of this, it also reappears in the Curse of Dreadbear DLC, along with masks of Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Mangle, and Balloon Boy.
In the Plushkin Patch level, the Plushbabies will wear a random mask every time the game starts. In Trick or Treat, you must choose the correct mask to ward off the Withered animatronics along with Balloon Boy by watching where the Animatronics go through the windows. Mangle will block the windows, and her mask is used to make her leave.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery[]
The Freddy Mask returns through the mechanics of the Toy animatronics and Mangle.
For Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, and Toy Chica, you must put on the mask during their haywire when they have White eyes, however look away if they turn red. For Mangle, you must wear the mask when she charges at you, and then collect the parts she drops.
