Five Nights At Freddy's Wiki

Balloon Boy, otherwise known as BB, is a humanoid Toy animatronic, that is featured in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. It is unknown if the Toy Animatronics are possessed by more victims of the Purple Guy/William Afton.

Behavior[]

BB becomes active on Night 2. Starting in the Game Area, he will eventually come to the Office via the Left Air Vent. With each of his movements, he can say, "Hello," "Hi," or simply laugh. BB will not show up on any cameras except the Game Area and the Left Air Vent, keeping his path of approach hidden.

Balloon Boy is the only animatronic in the game that will not kill the night guard, but rather he will make an annoyance of himself by disabling the Flashlight and Air Vent Lights all while a sound loop of him laughing will play until the player is killed or gets to 6 AM. If this occurs, the player is especially vulnerable to Foxy's attack, as he can no longer be stunned with the now disabled Flashlight. To prevent Balloon Boy from fully entering the office, the player must put the Freddy Mask on while BB is in the Left Air Vent, and wait for the sound cue that he has exited the vent. However, the player should be advised that the noise heard may possible be another animatronic entering or exiting the Office or vents. Once BB has left the vent, he will return to the Game Area, and his cycle will repeat. If the player instead pulls up the monitor while BB is still in the vent, he will enter the Office. Balloon Boy will remain in the Office for the rest of the night, rendering it nearly impossible to beat unless it is close enough to 6 AM or Foxy's AI is set to 0 on the Custom Night.

Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator[]

While not appearing as an animatronic that can physically harm the player, Balloon Boy's Adventure form is used in the playtesting of Gravity Vortex as well as Lemonade Clown and Fruit Punch Clown minigames.

UCN[]

BB's role continues to stay the same throughout the game, appearing through the right vent and disabling the flashlight.

Help Wanted[]

BB returns once again in the FNaF 2 mode minigames, Night 2 - 6. His role is the same as before, but is now seemingly unable to take your flashlight.

Curse Of Dreadbear[]

BB is another antagonist in the series, who can answer the door in the trick or treat minigame.

Special Delivery[]

BB is one of the mid game animatronics with his first jumpscare in his normal form

Trivia[]

  • As with the other Toys it is unclear whether Balloon Boy is haunted or not.
  • As well as Phantom BB in Five Nights at Freddy's 3, Balloon Boy features in the minigame "BB's Air Adventure".
  • While on the cameras, his buttons appear to be black. However, he has white buttons while inside the office, as well as in UCN.
  • BB is the first humanoid animatronic to appear in the series.
  • BB's appearance in Trick Or Treat minigame has a jumpscare of Nightmare BB because Steelwool thought a normal BB jumpscare wouldn't be scary enough
    • However, Illumix added BB with a jumpscare, making this the first and only time BB has a jumpscare.

UCN[]

Phantom Balloon Boy (often abbreviated Phantom BB) is a character in Five Nights at Freddy's 3. He appears on the monitor, and after you put the camera down he jumps at you, jumpscaring you and tampering with your ventilation systems.

Appearance[]

Phantom BB is burned, like all of the phantom animatronics. He is always smiling and his eyes are a glowing white color. He still wears his propeller hat from Five Nights at Freddy's 2, although it is now burned like the rest of his body.

Function[]

His main function is to distract the player by obscuring cameras and causing ventilation errors, causing the player's view to black out in the process before they finish rebooting it, giving a chance for Springtrap to enter the office and jumpscare the player.

Jumpscare[]

Phantom Balloon Boy has a more second game jumpscare despite not having one in the second game. He lunges at you and puts him with you, face to face on his jumpscare he is also now shown to have an actually apposable mouth which he lacked from the second game.

Movement Pattern[]

Phantom Balloon Boy lacks a movement pattern as every other Phantom in the game. Instead Phantom Balloon Boy will obscure your vision in a camera and then jumpscare you if you do not change the cameras fast enough.

FNaF World[]

Because reasons.

Shadow BB is an animatronic/soul that appears in FNaF 3. He is a shadowed version of BB from Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Appearance[]

Shadow BB takes a black color scheme, mostly looking like a shadow with grey tears rolling down his face like a soul. His clothes and balloon are also black.

Behavior[]

Shadow BB only shows as a lost soul in the BB's Air Adventure minigame, where they cry in a BB form. They reappear again, and if RWQFSFASXC gives them a cake, they will stop crying. This is needed to get the good ending of Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

Trivia[]

  • Shadow BB was originally a hoax in FNaF 2, but was debunked to not exist at all.
  • Shadow BB shares the same outline sprite as 8-bit BB, just having different colors

Nightmare Balloon Boy is a secret animatronic, an antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's 4, and one of the seven nightmare animatronics (eleven if the Halloween Edition animatronics are counted) in the game. While he is one of the few new nightmare animatronics introduced in the Halloween Edition, alongside Nightmare Mangle and Nightmarionne, he also makes an appearance in the Standard Edition. He is the nightmarish incarnation of BB. He is featured in his minigame known as "Fun with Balloon Boy" and functions exactly the same as Plushtrap. It is confirmed that he has an impact on the lore.

Appearance[]

Nightmare Balloon Boy appears similar to the original BB, except with a more menacing design. This includes large, pointed teeth inside of his large mouth (similar to Nightmare Chica), dark-blue eyelids and teeth gums, long claw-like fingers, and more sinister-looking eyes with red irises and bloodshot veins. He has a red nose and cheeks instead of orange ones. He also has a red and purple striped hat and shirt, instead of his usual red and blue stripes. The pinwheel from the top of his cap is also blue rather than orange with a yellow button up top. His two buttons are grey instead of the original BB's black ones. His hair is slightly shorter than his original counterpart. His blue pants are lighter in color. If one looks carefully, one can see that Nightmare Balloon Boy seems to wear white socks. Interestingly, Nightmare Balloon Boy appears to be in a perfect and completely undamaged shape.

Locations[]

Nightmare Balloon Boy only exists in the "Fun With Balloon Boy" minigame, which functions almost exactly like the minigame "Fun With Plushtrap". Nightmare Balloon Boy starts off on the chair and then moves to four sets of doors, hallway, the "X" on the floor, or jumpscares the player.

Behavior[]

Nightmare Balloon Boy functions exactly as Plushtrap in the "Fun with Plushtrap" minigame, except for the fact that he laughs or says "Hi" or "Hello" in a low, demonic voice as well as the fact that he moves at a slightly faster speed than Plushtrap (given the shorter timer), making him more of a challenge. His jumpscare is similar in fashion.

To win the minigame, the player must shine the flashlight when Nightmare BB is stopped on the "X", Nightmare BB will then permanently cease moving and the player will be granted a 2-hour bonus for the next night (1 hour is skipped when challenges are enabled). If the player fails the minigame and Nightmare BB is hiding in a room or still in his chair when the timer goes out, the player will receive a death screen with the words "TOO BAD". If the player fails the minigame and/or Nightmare BB gets too close before the timer runs out, they will be jumpscared by Nightmare BB and lose the chance to win the 2-hour bonus, also giving the player the "TOO BAD" result screen.

FNaF World[]

Some things can't be made cute.

— Nightmare BB's loading quote.

Nightmare BB appears in FNaF world as a protagonist, he was added in Update 2 of FNaF World. In order to make him join your party and become a playable character, you must defeat the Foxy Fighters minigame and achieve a ranking of A or higher.

Nightmare BB has the following attacks,

D27C73E9-3C86-4B34-9EF9-F93498786473 Deals an incredible amount of damage to enemies.
Bubble Breath Button Protects party from toxic effect.
Balloons 2 Button Summons a large amount of balloons.

Ultimate Custom Night[]

When the night starts, Nightmare BB is already slouched over inside the office. After lowering the monitor, there's a chance he'll be sitting up. When slouched, be careful not to shine the flashlight on him, as this will result in an immediate jumpscare. If he is sitting, however, shine the light to return him to his slouching position, otherwise he will attack when the player opens up the monitor.

Help Wanted[]

Nightmare Balloon Boy resides his same mechanism within his originated minigame in Five Nights At Freddy's 4, 'Fun with Balloon Boy' whereas the player will need to rely on his movement and laugh to locate where he has ran. Similar to Plushtrap, the player will need to shine him whenever he has reached the 'X'. Once the timer has run out, the player will be greeted with a jumpscare!

Trivia[]

  • While the Halloween Edition was originally announced to not expand any lore of the series, Fun with Balloon Boy made its way into the Standard Edition. After causing some confusion among fans, Scott himself confirmed that Nightmare BB fits into the story and can be considered canon to the series.
    • This makes him the only canon animatronic in the entire series who was added to a game after its initial release.
    • This also makes him the only part of the Halloween Edition that canonically expands upon the game's story and lore.
    • Additionally, this makes him the only canon antagonist in the fourth game who is based upon a character from the second game.
    • Furthermore, he is the only canon animatronic from the series that wasn't featured in the "Thank You!" image from Scott's website.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy, Nightmarionne, and Plushtrap are the only nightmare animatronic whose hands do not expose their inner endoskeleton.
    • However, Nightmare Balloon Boy is the only nightmare animatronic whose claws do not have any metal exposed.
  • This is the second version of Balloon Boy with a jumpscare, after Phantom BB.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is one of the three nightmare animatronics to appear in both the Standard and Halloween Editions, the other two being Nightmare Freddy and Nightmare Fredbear. This is because "Fun with Balloon Boy" can be selected and played via the Extra menu in both versions.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is one of the two nightmares in the game that are perfectly undamaged, the other being Nightmarionne.
  • In his jumpscare, Nightmare Balloon Boy appears to be beckoning with his fingers at the player, in a strangely human-like fashion.
    • As such, it is odd as to why the player's vision is shaking if Nightmare Balloon Boy doesn't really get to grip the player when he jumpscares, as all the other animatronics do.
      • This may be due to the player's character shaking due to fear.
  • There is a glitch that the player can still access the minigame, even if they haven't beaten Night 8 yet.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is BB's only counterpart to have fingers.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy and Plushtrap are the only nightmare animatronics in the game to close or even use their eyelids in the game, and it is only shown in the jumpscares.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy's head isn't connected to his jaw in any way, and simply floats in the air. It can be noticed in his jumpscare.
    • However, when he hides in the close right hallway and the close left hallway, his head is connected to his jaw by two cylinders.
  • Similar to Phantom BB from the third game, Nightmare Balloon Boy has no balloon or a sign.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is the only nightmare animatronic to have lighter colors.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is the only nightmare animatronic from the Halloween Edition with his own sounds. Nightmarionne and Nightmare Mangle use sounds from the second game.
  • There is a glitch that sometimes occurs where the player doesn't win the minigame after Nightmare Balloon Boy sits on the "X".
  • This is the first time in the series where BB has been called Balloon Boy. Up until the Halloween update his name was never actually said to be Balloon Boy at all.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy is one of the two nightmare animatronics that don't have any visible endoskeleton, the other being Nightmarionne.
  • Nightmare Balloon Boy, Nightmare Mangle, and Nightmarionne are the only animatronic counterparts that are not reskins of their original forms.
    • However, Nightmare Mangle's head is a reskin of Nightmare Foxy's.
  • Nightmare BB is the only nightmare animatronic to have human like eyeballs.
  • Nighmare Balloon Boy appears to have hinges to support his mouth in FNaF 4. However, these hinges are nowhere to be seen anywhere in FNaF World and UCN.

Errors[]

  • While sitting on the chair, Nightmare Balloon Boy's shirt appears to clip through his lower jaw.
  • In his jumpscare, Nightmare Balloon Boy's teeth visibly clip through one another.
    • From the first frame of his jumpscare, his thighs appear to clip through his torso.
    • His thumbs also clip through his fingers.
  • While Nightmare Balloon Boy is sitting on the "X", his nose can be seen through his right eye socket.

Swamp Balloon Boy is a character introduced in Five Nights at Freddy's AR: Special Delivery. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Balloon Boy.

Appearance[]

Balloon Boy's entire body has been covered in mud, appearing to increase his size because of it. His smile appears to be much more menacing, with the mud making it appear more like a sinister grin. Various twigs and bits of moss have also attached to his body.

Balloon Boy's sign appears to be the only part untouched by mud; However, moss has still taken it over, with the sign itself beginning to rot. Additionally, the text on the sign also says Rot.

Trivia[]

  • Swamp BB is the first skin for Balloon Boy
  • He is the only Haunted Forest character to not be based off of a material.

Frostbite Balloon Boy is a skin in Five Nights at Freddy's: Special Delivery, introduced in the Winter Wonderland event. As he is a skin, his mechanics are identical to Balloon Boy.

Appearance[]

Balloon Boy's entire basis has been taken away. Rather than looking like a young boy holding a balloon, he is now a full snow man. Throughout his body, Ice spikes can be seen poking out. On his torso, a chunk of him appears to have been ripped out, revealing ice crystals.

Although his sign and balloon have remained, they have taken on a completely new look to match his new appearance. His sign has turned to ice, with a snow layer on top. Icicles have formed on the bottom of it, with the handle ending off in a spike. The text on the sign also says Avalanche. His balloon on the other hand has become a mace, replacing his string with an icicle. The balloon itself is now completely made out of snow, with ice spikes sticking out of it.

Trivia[]

  • Frostbite Balloon Boy appears to be thinner than the original.
  • In his animations, his left leg occasionally clips into his torso.
